Digital Platform October 2020 (20.10) Update

Version 20.10 of the UO Communications web platform has been released (tagged 8.x-20.10 for Drupal 8, the design updates of this release will be in a future Drupal 7 release) with the following changes:

Feature Updates

UO Core (8.x-20.10)

  • CDN assets are now loaded using a different method, this change allows new asset changes to be distributed quickly and often without requiring users to clear their cache.

UO Cosmic Theme (8.x-20.10)

  • Added icon that automatically displays after links to a PDF to indicate that the link is to a PDF.
  • Added icon that automatically displays after links which open in a new window/tab.

UO Communications Install Profile

  • Adjusted shortcut links in the top menu to better represent the preferred links and language.
  • Added "Illustration" display mode that is selectable from the media display dropdown. This display should be used for infographics, illustrations and other non-photo images.

Bug Fixes

UO Banner and Footer (8.x-20.10)

  • Audience selector menu will no longer display if set to a menu that exists but is empty.
  • Site footer will no longer display at all if it contains no content.

UO Cosmic Theme (8.x-20.10)

  • Fixed issue where the current page on listings were not clearly indicating which page a user was on.

UO Edit Suite (8.x-20.10)

  • Fixed issue where users could not delete card photos and other card elements right after inserting a card template.
  • Fixed issue where "Feature Envelope" templates would display incorrectly in the editor.
  • Fixed issue where links around media elements could break.

UO Communications Install Profile (8.x-20.10/8101)

  • Fixed site editor permissions so that they can now edit the UO Banner site footer info (address, footer content, etc.)

Accessibility Improvements

  • Added underline on hover to call to action buttons to improve clarity on hover.
  • Added auto-generated pause button on hero envelope autoplaying background videos so that users may pause the video.
  • Clicking the search button now sets the cursor on the search field even if the search block is using google custom search.
  • Improved contrast on "Hero Envelopes" and "Photo Buttons" text by applying a text-shadow.

Other Changes

  • Updated the auto-generated style guide to use newer version of the software that generates it. Cleaned up a number of old or incorrect definitions and details within the styleguide.
