Design Updates
UO Homepage Theme
Reworked homepage header
- The UO Homepage header region is updated with a new layout to better use the header space. These changes shrink the header height to allow more content to fit above the fold on the homepage.
- The UO Homepage header region is updated with a new color gradient for the background to improve consistency with the UO Banner colors.
New Features
Cosmic Theme
Description metatag
Cosmic now includes a field in the theme settings that allows a site admin to define a description metatag that will be on the front page of the site. Search engines will use this tag in the description of the site that appears on thier results page.
Bug Fixes
Cosmic Theme
Link underlining
Links are now underlined by default in the base styles of cosmic and overrided for special cases. This change was made to fix the display of links on numerous subelements within cosmic, as well as to establish a consistent baseline behavior for discoverability and usability of links on cosmic sites.
Consistent sidebar menu block styling
Previously menu blocks and regular block menus within sidebars would vary in visual style. These two different types of menus are now consistently styled the same way.
Prevent navbar items from getting cut off on narrow viewports
Cosmic now better handles large numbers of navbar items (or items with long text) under small viewports. The navbar items will now drop to a second visual level and stack vertically to prevent items from being cut off by the edge of the screen.
UO Edit Suite
Badge items visual display
Badge items were not previously styled properly in Edit Suite.
Deprecated Features
UO Homepage Theme
"Barbell" horizontal rule styles
We are removing the "barbell" style HR's as the default HR style on the homepage. This change is to bring HR styling more consistently in line with other cosmic sites so that visual design elements can be used in similar ways across our fleet of sites.
Upcoming Changes
Proper slideshow support/changes
We are in the process of updating the flexslider display to work with the "feature-scale" image styling. This will be our default functionality and design moving forward. The slideshow functionality will also work its way into Cosmic in general as opposed to simply being in the homepage theme.
Deprecation of "Listing" CSS classes
The CSS "listing", "listing-row", and "listing-left" will be deprecated in the near future. Similar effects can be now achieved with the new grid-2col-40-60 and grid-2col-60-40 classes as well as the "badge" classes.
