Digital Platform October 2016 Update

Version 16.10 of the UO web platform has the following changes.

Feature Updates

Installation Profile

  • Added hidden field label to envelope fields by default
  • New sites have a menu block for the secondary navigation in the sidebar by default
  • Added view that lists all site users for site managers
  • Improved workflow for giving clean names to links for uploaded files
  • Permissions updates

UO Cosmic Theme

  • Added "Timeline" component for creating timelines of events
  • Changed search box to new style which is more consistent with overall theme direction
  • Changed HTML syntax of collapsable menus in footer to improve accessibility, clarity, and mobile behavior
  • Migrated homepage theme functionality into cosmic theme to remove the need for homepage theme in the near future
  • H2 Elements inside envelopes now use a consistent baseline font styling which matched the "feature-envelope__title" styling
  • Improved developer documentation for extending cosmic with new components
  • Improved default page titles to be of the form: "<site name> - University of Oregon" on the website homepage instead of just "Home"

UO Homepage Theme

  • Removed support for title-subdued class, tweaked design of title impactful class to only set text to all-caps
  • Changes to prepare for deprecation of homepage theme as its functionality is now within the cosmic theme

UO Edit Suite

  • Added "grid-strict" modifier to grids which prevent the grids from allowing trailing items on the last row from using all available horizontal space
  • Added template for Timelines

Bug Fixes

UOWeb Makefile

  • Updated ckeditor to version 4.5.11

UO Edit Suite

  • Fixed foreground colors of cta-button in feature envelopes

Known Issues

  • While cosmic supports the new Collapse Menu syntax, the editsuite template still uses the old one. Will be fixed in 16.11.

Required Action by Users

Site Administrators

Administrators should update thier UOBanner custom content to use the new collapse-menu styles if they are using the old style that utilized dt/dl/dd tags.
